Reaching the summit of excellence
Jaime Viñals
He started mountaineering in 1987 for a Guatemalan sports-cultural event called “De cumbre a Cumbre”. He has climbed the most important summits of Central America and the Caribbean, the Andes mountain range in South America, the Alps mountain range in Europe and the Himalayas mountain range in Asia.
In May 2001, he climbed the summit of Mount Everest, the largest peak on the planet, thus becoming the first person in Central America and the Caribbean to do so.
He was the second Latin American to finish the challenge of the Seven Summits of the World and the only Latin American to finish The Seven Islands of the World, among other achievements.
