Luis Vohn Ahn
Guatemalan businessman and professor, founder of the company CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA, which was acquired by Google in 2009. Creator of the Duolingo platform, worldwide recognized for its contribution to free language learning.
For his research in computing and crowdsourcing, he obtained various international recognitions in the scientific and technological field, including: the MacArthur Prize (also known as the Genius Prize) in 2006, named as one of the 50 best brains in science by Discover magazine, one of the Top 10 Brilliant Scientists in 2006 by Popular Science, and recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential People in Technology by Silicon.com. He received in 2014 the “Orden del Quetzal” in the rank of Grand Commander and the Lemelson-MIT award for his invention and contribution to cybersecurity in 2018.
